Frequently Asked Questions
Our captains do everything in their power to make sure that even the kids have a day on the water that will last in their memory forever. Over the years, Family Fun Fishing has become the premier fishing service for those seeking family fishing activities in the 10 Thousand Islands, Marco Island, and Naples. We specialize in providing family-friendly fishing trips to those seeking a fun day on the water in Southwest Florida. Whether you’re an avid fisherman with years of experience, or you and your family have never been on a boat before, we know you’ll have a wonderful time catching fish, seeing the mangrove islands and exploring our waters.
How many passengers are included in your rate?
3 passengers are allowed for the base price for all fishing charters. Extra passengers are $50/each. Fishing charters are allowed up to 6 passengers.
We want to go deep sea fishing, what does that include?
We accommodate nearshore fishing, not “deep sea”. A true deep sea fishing trip takes you out to at least a depth of 100 feet. Due to our very shallow coast, we do a “nearshore trip”. We go to wrecks and reefs nearshore which gives you the opportunity to catch species such as grouper, snapper, shark, barracuda, tripletail, etc. All nearshore trips are dependent on the weather.
I haven't heard from my Captain. Now what?
Please arrive at the dock at the time you booked your charter for. Please call or text (239) 249-9878 if you have any questions that aren’t addressed here on the FAQ page.
Are there restroom facilities?
There are restroom facilities at the boat ramp, and we suggest they be used before departure. However, it only takes minutes to stop at a local marina or restaurant for emergencies. No worries!
Will I get seasick?
Not likely! We fish through back bays, canals and nearshore areas of Naples, Marco Island and The 10 Thousand Islands. There generally is little wave action, so no worries of seasickness.
Can I keep the fish I catch?
Yes, if the fish is in season. We clean, ice and bag your catch. We do like to release fish that come in at the minimum size limit to grow up and catch on your next trip!
Can I bring my own rods?
You’re welcome to bring your own rods. Family Fun Fishing Charters supplies top quality rods, reels and tackle loaded with the exact line you need to catch the fish you’ll be targeting. Please let your captain know prior to your trip if you plan to bring your own equipment.
What doesFamily Fun Fishing Charters supply?
We supply bait, tackle, rods and reels, fuel, Florida fishing license, flotation devices, a cooler full of ice and bottled water…Everything you’ll need for your fishing charter. You are welcome to bring beverages & snacks of your choosing and use our cooler. Yes, beer and alcohol are allowed but glass containers are not.
Can we stay out longer if the fishing is hot?
Of course, as long as time is permitting. You can request extra hours while on your charter. The captain will let you know at that time if he is able to stay the extra hours. The cost is $100 per hour.
Are children allowed?
They are our favorite customers! Our captains do everything in their power to make sure kids have a day on the water that will last in their memory forever. When the kids are happy, Mom and Dad are happy!
What if the Captain cancels due to weather, etc?
The captain may decide that the charter must be canceled because of bad weather (lightning or small craft warning). We will first try to reschedule your trip for a different day with us or one of our associate guides so you can still take your charter as a courtesy. This is the captain’s call on the day of the charter.
Do you provide flotation devices for everyone aboard?
Yes! We are required by the U.S. Coast Guard to have regulation life preservers aboard for all ages while on our fishing charters.
Can we bring extra friends if they decide to come last minute?
No and yes. Please give us at least 24 hour notice if you plan on bringing an extra guest. We have to often buy bait, rig the boat and supply extra tackle according to the number in your party for your fishing charter. There is an extra charge of $50 per person if there are more than three people in your party. No more than six is allowed for any reason per USGC.
